CHF International is implementing a
Palestinian Reintegration and Enhancement Program
(PREP) in Gaza strip with funding from the United
States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Through the PREP initiative, CHF will provide
specific assistance to both alleviate the effects of
seasonal weather and provide secure housing where
hundreds of families reside in unstable structures
due to the last crisis on Gaza. This in addition to
providing temporary employment for families who have
been the hardest hit by the recent conflict,
infusing much needed capital into the economy and
providing households with the opportunity to support
their own needs in the short term. Finally, CHF’s
program strengthens the potential sector response
while providing trained and skilled individuals to
expand and increase their capacity to do quality
work and provide much needed services to the local
economy. Above all, the PREP program provides
support vital to health, well-being, and livelihoods
recovery in the shadow of Gaza’s continuing
humanitarian crisis. CHF International is seeking
qualified candidates to assume the following
positions
1. Area Engineers, Gaza
Strip
Duration:
8 months
Responsibilities:
The Area Engineers will prepare, implement, and
oversee project activities, including: Create
beneficiary lists, adhering to the preapproved
criteria, Conduct site visits of the winterisation
works, and contractor training. They will also
prepare: Engineering drawings, Tender documents and
Bills of quantities. S/he will be responsible for
the overseeing of the daily works and daily
activities handled by the Contractors at the project
sites, Ensure the highest quality in workmanship as
requested in the contract documents, Ensure quality
control and assurance of construction activates.
Supervise the contractor and ensure the maximum
labour content in implementation, through a Cash for
Work initiative, Review, comment and approve the
shop-drawings, materials and work plans submitted by
the Contractor, Conduct training classes on the
technical construction works to be carried out by
the contractors.
Area engineers must ensure compliance with CHF’s and
USAID’s requirements on safety measures and
environmental assessment, Collects data and
information about the progress of the project’s
inputs, outputs and indicators, and updates the
databases, Write field reports on the implementation
of the activities that he/she is responsible for,
and submitting them to the project manager,
Supervise the implementation of project activities
and follow-up., Supply technical specifications for
needed equipment, and check the tendering process.
Develop technical monitoring, follow-up and
evaluation plans and reports, Participation in
seminars and meetings. Perform other duties and any
relevant tasks assigned by the project manager.
Key qualifications:

A
bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or
related field.

Masters degree in structures or construction
management is an advantage.

At
least 10 years of experience working in site
supervision of building construction projects.

Good experience in Repair and Rehabilitation of
structures.

Experience in conducting field assessments,
coordinating focus groups, and ensuring
community participatory approaches in project
design, implementation and monitoring.

Ability to make good presentations and
training.

Prior experience working with USAID or other
donor funded projects

Excellent report writing skills in English and
Arabic is mandatory.

Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD,
and engineering software programs.

Ability to work under pressure and willingness
to travel frequently to project locations

Having a valid driving license.

Registered with the Engineers Association.
2. Social Workers,
Gaza Strip
Duration:
4 months
Responsibilities:
The Social Workers will prepare, implement, and
oversee project activities, including: Maintain and
facilitate contacts and relations between the PREP
project and community stakeholders, entities and
groups. Coordinate with the Area Engineers in
relation to the beneficiaries which have been
informed about the PREP project, Participate in
identifying the community stakeholders and
representatives within each target area and
supervise the process of involving them in all steps
of PREP activities, Participate in the process of
developing plan development framework for each area
ensuring community and involvement, Check
information and verify through pre-project visits
that project elements are viable and available,
Participate in training seminars and courses related
to work nature, and participate as trainer in areas
of qualifications, Organize and/or participate in
facilitation meetings of different types for and
between PREP and community representatives. S/he
will be responsible to produce reports of main
achievements and activities including meetings and
field visits, to their supervisor, Participate
together with department staff, in assisting the
department director in developing the action plans
and the working methodologies of the department, and
other PREP plans and activities. Perform other
duties and any relevant tasks assigned by the
project manager.
Key qualifications:

community activities
